To Mc'llo
I have always, for time innumerable, LOVED roadtrips. The excitement of getting the car serviced, parking bags and deciding the route. It is definitely the journey to the destination that is more enticing than the destination itself. So with my partners in crime, i set on a roadtrip to the land of monks; leaving behind the office mails to be handled by ever good old friend OOO (out of office) :) With a crate of beer, bulk of pillows, google map in hand, we set on our way, competing on spotting dogs, cows, green trees, open fields and what not!
We drove under the canopy of lush green trees. With villages on one side and swaying open farmlands on the other, we breezed through the plains and landed in the lap of baby hills of the mighty Himalayas. The hills greeted us with grey clouds and refreshing drops of rain. The green hills, the small waterfalls sprouting along the road, a pure white bridge joining two darkest green hills and the winding road amidst it. While nature painted this serene picture for my eye, it also washed away all the travel woes and ache from the long drive. The sight was to our eye as the first drops of rain on a parched land.
I remember sitting on the side of the road playing 20 questions, lounging away hours sitting idle, looking out at sky and the landscape and jumping into puddles with a rainbow of an umbrella in tow. And the icing on the cake - welcoming the peaceful night and staring in awe at the dark sky laden with the most brightest tiny twinkling silver stars.
And this is what i concluded from my short escape - the city lights obscure our vision. They dazzle our sight. The concrete, in its various forms and color, lures our greedy mind. But the heart aches for what is natural. So, travel for your heart. Travel to see what the world is outside the concrete. bring out your wanderlust.
